I'm French, so I've read this book (actually nearly all of Molière's books) in French only. It's a funny play indeed, but also a very interesting one, a testimony of the 17th century's society. This play describes the hypocrisy of the dominant classes, and even though the King Louis XIV liked it, it provoked a scandal and was banned for a few years under the influence of devotees.
