After seeing the movie I just had to read the book. Usually when one reads the book first or sees the movie first then the other part (seeing the movie or reading the book) is ruined. That was not the case for The Count of Monte Cristo.

This book is great. Very interesting and not boring. The emotions were stressed in every chapter.

Thrilling novel from Alexandre Dumas. The book is long but every page is interesting, but the author has made an error with the narration. While the count was in jail he learns to count the number of days he was imprisoned and also to calculate the time and date. But after he makes the prison break the first question he asks to an outsider is for the date and year which was not needed as the count already knew it. The author included these lines to make the prison break thrilling but in doing so he made a big error. Otherwise its an excellent book

My all time favorite! Don't expect the movie with Jim Caviezel. I was amazed when the movie was just about covered in the first few chapters, I was thinking, what could possibly keep my attention for the hundreds of pages to follow! This is a brilliant tale with twists and suspense dijour! I couldn't wait to see how it ended, but I really dreaded it being over!

If you have never read "The Count of Monte Cristo," please, do so right now! It is possibly the best book ever written (it's certainly one of my favorites). Dumas was a brilliant writer, and all of his stories are chock-full of intrigue, adventure, scandal, revenge, romance, etc. If any of these appeals to you, I definately recommend this amazing book.
