Uncle Vanya

I'm not exactly sure why Uncle Vanya is considered a comedy. The closing words of Sonia in ACT IV tear me apart whenever I read them. In fact I am hesitant to view a staged production as I'm afraid to weep so in public. Chekhov has a subtle touch that no other "drawing room" playwright can duplicate. "We shall rest...We shall rest."
